3-4 Player Rules

Overview

Widget Ridge supports multiple gameplay formats, including 3 -4 players by simply combining two starter sets or meeting the minimum recommendation for Marketplace cards that can include expansions and other supported sets.

Today we have two formats that you can use, however don't stop there! Feel free to make and create your own fun and creative formats.

Market Street - 3 Player Format

Players determine randomly who goes first. All standard rules apply, however starting hands are as follows:

First Player - 3 Cards
Second Player - 4 Cards
Third Player - 5 Cards

The Marketplace deck must contain a minimum of 90 cards and the Marketplace row receives 1 additional flipped card, for a total of 7. Gameplay proceeds clockwise around the table. Story packs, locations and Goal cards are supported in this format.

Market Square - 4 Player Format

Players determine randomly who goes first. All standard rules apply, however starting hands are as follows:

First Player - 3 Cards
Second Player - 4 Cards
Third and Fourth Players - 5 Cards

For Market Square, place the Marketplace deck in the middle of the table, and lay out 5 Marketplace cards in front of each player forming a square (hence the name). In this format, the recommended minimum Marketplace desk size is 120 cards (equivalant of two starting sets).

Players have access to the Marketplace cards in front of them and to their left and right. Buying a card from any opposing Marketplace will cost 1 additional gold. Players may only target Workshops and opposing players to their immediate left or right. Story packs, locations and Goal cards are supported in this format.
